Calling All Indie Artists!

I have decided to start a new feature on my blog called ‘Indie Shine’. This will begin in February 2017!

The purpose is to shine a spotlight on individual indie artists. It doesn’t matter what your chosen field is as long as you are indie and an artist.

I have received responses so get yours in today. Space is limited, as this is only a monthly feature.

Go to https://rebirthoflisa.wordpress.com & complete contact me form. I will respond with detailed information and a questionnaire. Once I receive the completed questionnaire, I will let you know when your feature will post.

One Word Photo Challenge – Snow

Standard

I was at a loss for the last couple of weeks for the One Word Photo Challenge hosted by Jennifer Nichole Wells, but this week I had to participate. I dug in my box of tricks and found snow even though I live in Florida. I am posting on Thursday for TBT, Enjoy:

One Word Photo Challenge – Sandstorm

Standard

I have been absent for a couple of weeks from Jennifer Nichole Wells’ One Word Photo Challenge, but now I’m BAAAACK! I was struggling with the literal sense of the topics and thought I had nothing to offer. That is until I asked Jen for some advice and she was great. I now have taken the blinders off and have started to think outside of the box. This week’s challenge topic is Sandstorm. Since I don’t live in the desert, I decided to focus on half the word. I live in a beach town so the sand would be too obvious so I picked “storm”. Here is my version of a storm made of fish:

Day 5: BOLTS!

I am a newcomer to Tampa and to the sport of hockey, as well. Because the local pro team is in the NHL Finals playing for the Stanley Cup, I have quickly learned you can’t live in Tampa without having a relationship with the Tampa Bay Lightning, aka, THE BOLTS! They are everywhere and I love it. Being an avid sports fan, I quickly adapt to new sports and as my husband can contest, will cheer very loudly to support my team.

I attended my only pro hockey game several years ago when I lived in Atlanta, thanks to my friend Erika, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. I was used to attending pro basketball or baseball games, but this was different. The fans were very engaged and vocal about everything that happened on the ice. Even though I did not know all of the rules, I was able to follow the game because of the crowd’s reaction. The one thing that stood out was how fast the game was. There was no time to chat and if I looked away for one second, I missed something important. At the basketball and baseball games, there is a time to socialize, and my favorite, people watch.

Since I moved to the Bay Area, I have heard nothing but Go Bolts, Go Bolts! I had to see what all of the fuss was about. I did a little research and found people around her love this team. From the local news reporters, to the local restaurateurs. No matter where you go, someone is reppin’ the Bolts. I find this very refreshing compared to other cities I lived in who have fair weather fans. Some of the cities, like Atl and Jacksonville have a large number of transplants, and they bring the love of their home teams with them. Here in Tampa, there are definitely transplants, but people seem to cheer for the local team despite not growing up here. I am not one to follow the crowd, but I will say this, since I never had a hockey team to cheer for, I will make the Bolts the recipient of my LOUD CHEERS. I have just one more thing to say…. GO BOLTS!!!

Day 4: REX

056

Rex in effect and I’ve got something to say

People take off running when I come their way

I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong

It’s not my fault my teeth are so long.

All my life I’ve searched for a friend

But as soon as I get near, the screaming begins

I try real hard to build rapport

But all people reall hear is a roar.

I’ve got little arms and great big feet

Getting to know me would be a great treat

I cook and clean and keep a good house

Being extinct makes it hard to find a spouse.

Alone every day and every night

Nobody to listen to my plight

I’ve starved so much you can see my bones

Oh how I wish you understood my tone!

“Hi Ladies,

My name is Ralph and I am a free range rooster living in the city-scapes of Tampa, FL. Before you start screaming and asking for my number, I am married and we have a new baby. I know it breaks your hearts, but you’ll have to get over it. I am no longer the wild bachelor I used to be roaming the country side, dating all of the fast hens out there. My beautiful wife, Estelle is more than enough for this guy. I burned my little black book and am a faithful guy.

It is now my duty to guard and protect my family and I will peck any human who gets within a few yards of our nest, as the lady who took this photo found out. Don’t get me wrong, I like people, but they will fry you up and have you for Sunday dinner if you let them; especially down here in the South. So if you’re ever in Tampa stop by the downtown market and say hi, but keep your distance.”

Strong and majestic is how they see me

But I am a shell of my former self

I belong in the ocean swimming and hunting

But I just float in this tank thinking of what used to be

I long for those open seas

Just swimming around senselessly

Now I make humans grin and laugh

But this is not my life’s path

I was born to roam the seven seas

Endless space, that’s the life for me

But now I swim in this tank

Never again to see my home, I think.
