Wise Words Wednesday – Pat Summitt

It is hard to believe it has been a whole year since the legendary Pat Summitt was taken from us. Today marks that day in history so in her memory I decided to feature her for #www. Anyone who knows me can tell you Pat Summitt is one of my heroes in life and she definitely had an endless stream of wise words to offer. 2016 was a rough year, losing the two most important women in my life in similar circumstances almost 6 months apart. Wise Words Wednesday – Summitt

patMany of you who follow the blog know one of my idols is Pat Head Summitt. I could go on and on about how this lady affected my life, but that would only bore you. What I will do is let her words speak for themselves. Pat passed away last year in June, but her dream to find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease is still alive and well with the opening of the Pat Summitt Clinic. This horrible disease took the two greatest ladies I had in my life last year within 6 months of each other. I want a cure for this so families do not have to watch their loved ones suffer.  I urge you to get involved. Volunteer, donate, organize a walk or just spread the word. Rest Well Coach

Today the world lost a legend in the world of women’s basketball. I lost the most influential person in my life other than my mother, and I only met her once. Pat Summitt was an amazing woman who not only talked the talk, she walked the walk. I wish I could have played for her, but that was never in the cards for me. Instead she showed me from a distance how to impact the lives of others that you may never know.

She was kind, and smart and generous. You never hear people speak badly of her and I’m talking over thirty years of being in the spotlight. I am totally heartbroken and I wish her friends and family well. I pray they find comfort in the outpouring of love from all over the world for this great woman. Thank you Pat for sharing your gifts with the world. You are loved so much more than you ever knew. God has called home an angel and you better be sure she’s wearing Orange and singing Rocky Top!
