Black Authors I LOVE! Day 16

Standard

Denis Waitley

The featured author for Day 16 in my Black Authors I LOVE! event is Lorraine Hansberry. She was known as an author and playwright, in fact the first play I remember seeing was a version of her play “A Raisin In the Sun.” I remember being extremely excited to see this play because it was also a movie I had seen as a child that starred the gorgeous and talented Mr. Sidney Poitier. He was the epitome of a strong, intelligent black man and I loved anything his was in. His performance in the film prompted me to read the book for myself. The title of the play was taken from the poem “Harlem” by Langston Hughes: “What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?”
