Today’s featured author for my Black Authors I LOVE! event is Julie Dash! Julie, better known as a film maker, is not to be confused with Stacey Dash. Make no mistake this lady is a proud woman of African descent. Her award winning film Daughters of the Dusk led her to write a novel of the same title, but the book is set 20 years after the movie. Daughters of the Dusk is a unique tale of a family from the Gullah Islands off the coast of South Carolina. Watch the trailer of the film here to get a taste of the film and the climate of the book. I first ran across this book a few years back when my husband and I visited a museum in Charleston, SC. I hope you will enjoy.
