No More Strange Fruit

I’ve bared witness to some terrible things
Black men struck down like they’re not human beings
History just keeps on repeating
But I refuse to accept what I’m seeing

Strange fruit has fallen from the trees
No longer hanging
Now they are lying on the cold streets

Black women beaten down to the ground
Threatened with their lives if they make a sound
Husbands, sons and strange men too
Knock women out and drag them for true

Strange fruit has fallen from the trees
No longer hanging
Now they are lying on the cold streets

Black children being brain-washed and poisoned
De-sensitized and their hearts have been frozen
Forget your history is what they’ve been told
Lost and confused their dignity is being sold

Strange fruit has fallen from the trees
No longer hanging
Now they are lying on the cold streets

Even the elderly are not safe
Being tased in their backs till they fall on their face
No respect for us breeds no respect for blue
Time for action, now what we gonna do?

Strange fruit has fallen from the trees
No longer hanging
Now they are lying on the cold streets
